Appearance settings

Appearance is configured at two levels: workspace (branding shared across the workspace) and per-assistant (how each chat widget looks and behaves on your site).

Workspace-level branding

Go to Workspace in the sidebar → Settings → General tab.

  • Brand image — Upload or remove a workspace image (e.g. logo). Used for workspace identity; supported formats and size limits apply.
  • Workspace name — Display name for the workspace.
  • Website — Your site URL (e.g. www.example.com).
  • Share link — Read-only link to share the workspace (e.g. for invitations).
  • Change label (optional) — Short description for the workspace (up to 200 characters).

Click Save Changes to apply. Workspace-level fields are separate from the embeddable widget; widget-specific look and copy are set per assistant below.

Per-assistant widget appearance

Each assistant has its own widget appearance. Open it via Assistants → ⋮ → Edit (Chat Widget settings), or Workspace → Chat Widget tab and select the assistant.

Profile

  • Upload logo — Image shown in the widget (e.g. in the header). JPG, PNG, or SVG, up to 1MB. You can remove the logo.
  • Bot avatar — Avatar for the assistant in the conversation. Same formats and size limit.

Brand

  • Background color — Widget panel background (color picker).
  • Chat bubble color — Color of the assistant’s message bubbles (color picker).

Content

  • Display name — Name shown for the assistant in the widget (e.g. “Acme Support”).
  • Initial message — First message visitors see when they open the chat (up to 200 characters).

Language

  • Default language — Language for the widget (e.g. English, Spanish).
  • Translation — Optional translation/override text for localization.

Saving and publishing

  • Save — Stores appearance and content changes. The widget will use them after you publish.
  • Publish — Publishes the assistant so the latest settings (and any other changes) are live for the embed and API.
Note:

Widget position (e.g. bottom-right) is set in the embed snippet (window.ChatHQ.position). See Embed code.
